About Mama's House
The idea of Mama’s House came about in the summer of 2017 when I began living a mostly plant-based lifestyle. I had already been working on plans for a healthy eatery and decided that I would change my original plans and make it 100% vegan. After camping out and attending a vegan potluck at Wedrose Animal Sanctuary in Gridley, Il in September of 2017, I made the decision to become fully vegan and started hosting monthly vegan potlucks at my two bedroom apartment with my teenage daughters Maya and Haley. We started out with about seven attendees but then quickly grew into having twenty five to thirty five people show up each month. After researching the possibility of launching a vegan café and food truck, I decided that for me it was best to start as a vegan catering service that I can operate around my full-time job caring for infants at a local child care center. It took me a little over four months to find a licensed kitchen to rent. Now that I have a commercial kitchen, I will be offering prepaid meals, catering for up to 40 people, frozen individual meals and vegan meal preparation at private homes and events. Once, I have built my cliental base and raised enough capital, I will grow Mama’s House into a 100% vegan eatery located in the Bloomington/Normal area.
